How To Unblock Your Chakras

Chakras are energy centres within the physical body. They control all processes from organ performance to emotions. Your 7 chakras are positioned from the bottom of your spine, up to the crown of your head. Each chakra has its own light, wave frequency and governs specific functions.

We are all energy! Everything is energy and energy cannot be destroyed. As your chakras are your energy centres, you must pay attention to them; they control you psychologically, emotionally, physically, and keep you spiritually balanced.

Check out my video to find out more about the 7 different chakras:

There are several reasons of blockages in Chakras such as negative emotions, fears and bad lifestyle and other derogatory habits. Chakras have a direct impact on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of an individual.

Beginning at the top of the body, here are the 7 chakras and their roles:

Crown Chakra:

  • Top of the head; represented by a violet light
  • This is the connection between you and the divine. It is responsible for spirituality, belief systems, revelation, divine consciousness, and enlightenment. Your brain functions and central nervous system are controlled by the crown chakra.

Third Eye Chakra:

  • Between the eyebrows; represented by an indigo light
  • Intellect and our ability to see the truth. The third eye chakra is also the center for awareness and light and it is where sleep and awakening are regulated.

Throat Chakra:

  • Base of the throat; represented by a blue light
  • Individual growth. Not being able to achieve as much as you’d like could mean a blockage in the throat chakra. The throat chakra is the center for verbal communication.

Heart Chakra:

  • Center of the chest; represented by a green light
  • Love and spirituality, compassion, emotional zone, masculine/feminine of the self, and forgiveness. Love doesn’t mean only love for others; it also applies to self-love and self-acceptance.

Solar Plexus Chakra:

  • Abdomen; represented by a yellow light
  • The solar plexus is the center for physical energy that the body gains from nourishment.

Sacral Chakra:

  • Reproductive organs; represented by an orange light
  • Sexuality, the nature of your relationships, freedom from guilt, pleasure, sensation, creativity and the joys of life

Root Chakra:

  • Base of the spine; represented by a red light
  • It corresponds to the physical body and connection to the Earth. Just like a foundation, it is concerned with the basics of survival: food, shelter, safety, comfort and belonging.

So, how can I unblock my chakras?

The easiest way to open your chakras is to visit a spiritual healer or trained Reiki master although not everyone can afford this. I’ve put together some tips on how to clear and unblock your chakras yourself.

Meditation is one of the most effective methods for balancing the chakras. If you’re new to meditation, you can click here to see my 5 top tips to help you meditate.

Crown Chakra:

  • To open the crown chakra, it can help to visualize a brilliant white / violet light pouring into the top of your head.
  • Visualize the light washing away any blockages.
  • It can also help to visualize a white or violet lotus flower unfurling, because the symbol of the crown chakra is a lotus flower with 1,000 petals.
  • Regular meditation is the most important factor in healing this chakra.
  • Chakra healing stones can help dissolve blockages and amplify healing energy. Diamond, quartz, amethyst and other white or purple stones are ideal for healing the crown chakra.
  • These can be worn as jewelry or held during meditation and energy healing.

Third Eye Chakra:

  • Meditation is the key to opening the third eye chakra. Silence of the mind is of paramount importance.
  • The gateway to infinite intelligence can be opened by more and more meditation. Through the healing powers of universal love – light & energy – you will feel an increase in your self-worth.
  • For your spiritual transition to the next dimension, balancing this chakra is vital.
  • Know that each person’s voilet-rey chakra balances differently showing a different sequence and pattern of ever spiraling patterns of light.

Throat Chakra:

  • Opening your sacral chakra is beneficial for the throat chakra, because in order to communicate effectively, you most hold self-confidence and have self acceptance.
  • An opened Solar Plexus chakra is also beneficial to remove any social imbalance, such as assuming power over others and not listening to them, or being extremely submissive to others and not being able to communicate with them.
  • Work on communication skills by spending more time with others and making an effort to communicate, practice writing, attend communication skills courses.
  • Working on listening skills will help.
  • Ask yourself, do you really listen when people talk? Take time to digest meanings that others are trying to convey to you.
  • Understanding is required; because we are all one, originating from one unified source, we are all interdependent – therefore it is necessary to accept communication from others in order to thrive.

Heart Chakra:

  • Consider carefully how much love and compassion you have and see how far you can go.
  • Practice all things in love.
  • Not only people, but animals, nature, the planet as a whole, the universe–even people you dislike.
    • Complete open and free flowing heart chakra energy manifests as a person capable of looking with love at an entity that hates them.

Solar Plexus Chakra:

  • This requires an understanding of unity and equality. That we are all one, from one source, all equal.
  • That love and light are the highest vibration.
  • That giving and receiving love, service to others and allowance of free will, are absolutely key concepts in clearing this blockage and remaining on a positively orientated path.
  • Now the human ego can begin to recede.

Sacral Chakra:

  • First observe the aspects of your life that are causing you problems, for example, a problem with constant need for human contact.
  • Boil it down to one contradicting thought, being alone or being with others.
  • Meditate upon that thought.
  • Total silence of the mind opens the gateway to intelligent infinity.
  • Meditate on aspects of the self in order to find the self.
  • Subconsciously you will start to find answers about yourself. Contemplate on self discovery.
  • Most importantly, find acceptance of yourself. Acceptance of every part of you that you discover. For example, you feel like a ‘geek’ and hate yourself for it. Accept that you are ‘geeky’ and love yourself for it.
  • Watch anxiety and other blockages fall away.

Root Chakra:

  • Use methods that we learn through different media to maintain the physical body.
  • Exercise, healthy eating, refrain from smoking, inactivity, and excessive drinking.
  • A healthy brain can be achieved through regular sleep routine, relief from stress and meditation–as meditation and yoga have been shown to change the brain’s functions.
  • A healthy brain that contributes to a healthy mind / body / spirit.
  • Media and education tell us that a healthy lifestyle can control depression, anxiety, and mood swings. This is true spiritually because the root chakra is being unblocked, thus flowing energy and dissipating negative emotional energy.
  • Realize what your emotional balance should be through meditation and contemplation.

Start opening your root chakra before proceeding with any higher chakras in the body. You require a solid, grounded foundation before ascending up the body and opening the crown chakra.

This process can lead a person into a state of wholeness both physically and emotionally. But clearing the energy systems and releasing the trapped energy leads to the emotional stability in the body and thus relieves you of unnecessary worry which is the major cause of all the illnesses in the modern world.
